Image Quality Redefined

We have a new top story! After many hours of testing the Canon EOS 1D Mark III we have an in-depth evaluation of Canon’s new top notch noise reduction algorithm, performed by the new DIGIC III. Many camera makers and RAW software makers have a lot to learn. Canon has done a wonderful job with the image processing part of this camera. Update: What happened to easyrgb.com?

update: easyrgb.com is back online! At some point in the last few days easyrgb.com was taken down never to comeback. We used easyrgb.com quite a lot as a reference to color conversion formulas. It had all the most needed formulas in a single page organized really well. It also featured a cool color conversion calculator which helped us many times in the past. Luckily, web.archive.org is keeping an archive of easyrgb.com which makes the color formulas still accessible. If anyone knows what happened to easyrgb.com let us know. What a shame!

Leica DIGILUX 3 impressions

KammaGamma is not one of those regular camera review sites. So we are not going to talk about the body of the camera that much. This news page is a good place for me to talk a bit about new cameras we get to review. And the last of which is the new Leica DIGILUX 3. I took the Digilux 3 to my recent trip to hungary, so that was a real world test for the design of the body. I am sorry to say I just couldn’t get used to the way the Digilux 3 is designed. Yes it looks terrific, but the layout of the buttons are somewhat different from most cameras.

New databases at the works!

There is no doubt that our databases are a unique feature, so we are going to take that further. I wanted to let you guys know that we are working on some new databases that are going to blow your mind! I don’t want to say much, this image here is just a small nice teaser of a new plot in the works (due to change). I hope we’ll get it online soon. There is a lot to look forward to!

Getting to know the Canon EOS 1D MKIII

I just came back from Canon after a few days of getting to know the Canon EOS 1D MKIII. I have so much to say about the image quality! unfortunately, I can’t – yet. I am a bit disappointed from the fact DIGIC III is so slow when the Noise reduction option is set to ON. The number of images you can take with this option ON reduces significantly. This is not something a camera maker usually does…

Apple Aperture 1.5.1

Apple has released Aperture 1.5.1, addressing over 100 issues related to overall reliability and performance. The new release also updates the support for new cameras. The Canon EOS 400D/Rebel XTI was added along with the Nikon D80 and the Pentax *ist DS. With this release, Apple has made Aperture available for free 30 day “Test Drive” download. Further details »

Nikon AF-S DX 18-135 mm

Nikon AF-S VR 70-300 mm

Nikon has announced a new VR lens, the Nikkor AF-S 70-300 mm VR f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. The new lens features Nikons second generation Vibration Reduction system and Silent Wave Motor for smooth silent focussing.
